Horse Portrait

This pastel picture will remind my friend of her young powerful horse, who
badly damaged both of his front legs while trying to prevent slipping
on icy slope last winter.

Rain Garden – a nature friendly solution

Rain gardens are becoming increasingly popular. As the title suggests, the main purpose is to catch rain water with its plants and soil. We can see the negative impact of polluted storm water run-off created by extensive development in the past. There is a need for developing a more holistic approach that would result in healthier waterways and habitats. In this particular project I was concentrating on collecting water from a roof.

Like a sponge, this 24” deep basin will allow for slow filtration into the ground. I hope to update this post as soon as this project installation takes off.

I suggest you Google the benefits of rain gardens on your own. There are more than few.
Project is completed.  We may watch now how the design holds up under various weather conditions.

Painting in the Forest

This was one of my first murals that I had done for my very good friend.  The family looked through the dining room window on to this large blank garage wall.  I was inspired by the surroundings; seeing deer explore the yard while I was painting, and looking through a children’s book.  The height of the wall was a little bit of a challenge, along with the grooved base.  I have learned more than a few basics on this spacious wall.
