This year’s Parade of Homes is located
in Evergreen Pointe Development in Vancouver, overlooking the Columbia
River.
While designing the landscape for
The Odyssey – A Place of Celebration, I started with a few very different ideas
how to organize the outdoors in relationship with a large covered patio while
protecting views from key areas indoors as well as outdoors.
A simple design utilizing the slope was chosen
as most fitting.
Geometric shapes of
raised / retaining planters with formal stairs and a lower patio complement
this elegant house and its distinct character.

Working under GRO Outdoor Living management, I
had the opportunity to take part in the installation of this project as well. |

Also, I watched Garret Hergert
and his two helpers install a couple of giant rocks that, with a third smaller
rock, form a beautiful fountain.

This fountain’s scale and final
appearance are nothing short of perfection.
All landscape elements are in harmony, not competing with each other or
the beauty of this exceptional house setting.
